Getting started

Hypna is an 18+ site. The front page says so and asks you to confirm before you go any further.

Registering

There are two ways to make an account, and both end with an e-mail:

Register page

Enter your e-mail address on the Register page. You receive an invitation link. Opening it signs you in and asks you to set a password.

Register on the login page

The Login page also has a register form asking for e-mail, first and last name and a password. You receive a magic link that activates the account and signs you in. The link works once.

Onboarding

The first time you sign in, three steps run before you reach the dashboard:

  1. Pick a username. At least three characters, no spaces or special characters. The page checks availability as you type.

  2. Accept the contracts. Read the terms of service and press I accept the terms. When the terms change, everyone is asked to accept the new version on next sign-in.

  3. What drives you. Pick at least one interest tag. Tags you do not pick are shown as content warnings on projects that carry them. You can change these later in User Settings.

Signing in

The login page offers:

  • E-mail and password.

  • Sign in with a passkey, shown when your browser supports it. Passkeys are added under Account Security.

  • Forgot password, which e-mails a reset link. Password changes always go through this flow.

If multi-factor authentication is enabled on your account you are asked for a code from your authenticator app or e-mail, or to authenticate with a passkey. Sensitive pages may ask you to sign in again even when you already are.

Multi-factor authentication and passkeys

Account Security (linked from My Page) lets you add:

  • E-mail Code: a one-time code sent to your address at sign-in.

  • Authenticator App (TOTP): scan a QR code in an authenticator app and confirm a code.

  • Passkeys: Touch ID, Windows Hello, your phone or a security key. Each passkey can be named, disabled or deleted. Passkeys need a secure (https) connection.

MFA is optional for regular accounts.

Where things are

The navigation bar groups the site into Explore (Dashboard, Files, Stash, Download Fractal, Support the Project) and Sessions (Schedules, Playlists, Account Standing, Something New, I’m Feeling Lucky). Your username in the corner opens My Page, which lists your watched projects, projects you can view, your schedules, playlists and created projects, and links to User Settings and Account Security.
